South Coast Engineers has partnered with ICF to develop a nature-based implementation guide for USDOT-FHWA. The objective of the implementation guide is to provide tools and guidance for the design and use of natural and nature-based features that improve the resilience of coastal transportation infrastructure. The project team is developing a white paper on nature-based solutions, which will be distributed at a number of regional peer exchanges conducted in the spring of 2018. The peer exchange feedback, when combined with the results of five FHWA-funded pilot projects conducted in Oregon, Mississippi, Delaware, New Jersey, New Hampshire and Maine, will allow the project team to address the regional variability that makes nature-based techniques unique around the US.
